Where did all that heat go? It's turned into one of the most beautiful summers that we have had in a long time. Cooler nights that are just right for sleeping without the air conditioner humming in the background. Of course it also means more comfortable knitting while you sit on the deck or on the beach. This is the perfect time of year for a little shawl or shoulder wrap, especially in the movie theater or restaurant. Take a hint from our resident Lace shawl knitter, Bonnie Otto, and stash one in the car for that sudden chill.
These beauties are a satisfying knit and a great way to learn a new stitch. We have lots of patterns and lots of suitable yarn that will have you hugging your shoulders in delight.
This little number is done with 2 sks of Mini Mochi. We just unpacked 10 bags so the selection is good.
This is Bonnie's latest masterpiece. Be sure to take a good look at it when you visit us. It is inspiring.

Welcome to all the I-91 Shop Hoppers out there. We hope to see you this week-end as we celebrate A Kaleidoscope of Color.
Northampton Wools is proud to be purple. We have decked the store in purple everything, which wasn't that hard. It is amazing how much purple we already had. Not surprisingly, it is one of the popular colors for Northampton knitting.
This is the third year for this event and we have added a fourth day to the week end knitting party. You can now visit all 11 stores on Thursday too. The very first hoppers to visit Northampton Wools on Thursday morning were new to the shop hop and we were the second store they had been to already. That is motivation!
We are happy to be a part of this exciting event. When you stop in be sure to enter the daily door prize- a basket full of knitting stuff that every knitter will enjoy.
Have fun and drive safely-- keep on knitting.

It's a neck thing...

We are so excited to share a new yarn with you. Adrienne worked hard all week to knit up a sk of Island Yarn Combo Fibers in this simple to knit, fun to  wear, colorful moebius scarf.

Knit on a size 11 circular needle it is quick, easy and motivating to knit. This is one of those projects that is hard to put down- who doesn't want to see the next color and fiber change?  The pattern for this scarf is free when you purchase the yarn. Right now we have 11 sks left, each of which is unique. They won't last long and will make a very satisfying summer project.

Bright and ruffly(?) seem to be the next requirement for summer knitting.
The Kid Seta from Plymouth yarns suits this scarf style to perfection. Two sks and a size 7 needle combine to create a cloud like feeling around your neck. This yarn is available in the brightest of colors guaranteed to make the younger crowd happy!

As we turn the page to June don't forget to look at the class and workshop schedule. The log cabin class is on June 15 and drop in on Wed or Fri mornings from 10-12 start on June 12. Hope to see you knitting this summer. Have a happy cast on.

Spring is finally here and it makes me very happy.
I can't wait to sit on the deck with a glass of iced tea and my current knitting project. These longer days lift my spirits and make me feel like I can get a lot more knitting done. this, of course is simply wishful thinking. I am knitting as much as I can now anyway. The longer evening doesn't give me any more time, just more light! Oh well, I am still going to knit away, especially on those projects that I want to have finished for fall.
In the store we are preparing for those fall days. Each week I am visiting with another sales representative. There are some very interesting new yarns headed for our shelves in late August. That will be my tease for now. Let's enjoy the warmth while we have it and use this time to complete some of the projects you already have on the needles.
If you have a lot of leftovers, check out the 2 workshops that I scheduled for this summer. Log cabin afghans are fun and fast to make and will use up even the smallest amounts of unused yarn. The crochet hexagon will also be a great way to say goodbye to the bags of leftovers that you just can't part with.
Speaking of saying good-bye; we have to say it to Maryanne Clark. She is our Tuesday girl and has been an asset to Northampton Wools for many years. I will miss her very much and wish her much success in her new job. Maryanne will be in the store for the next 2 Tuesdays so please stop in and say good bye and good luck to her.

Starting May 20th and lasting until June 9th we are offering a 25% discount on Plymouth Yarns Baby Alpaca Grandiosa. One skein will make this great scarf, and the  pattern is free when you buy the yarn.
Try it on the next time you visit us and tell me what you think. I think it is going to be the IT scarf for quick gift knitting this holiday season.

Added to the shelves today- more Rios from Malbrigio. This is the yarn that Adrienne used to make the Honey Cowl. Wonder how long it will be here?
This just in---Rasta from Malbrigio Yarns. One sk makes a cowl and the colors make you drool!

Today's Knitting Story:
The Boyfriend Curse Reversed
One of my longtime students reported today that she went ahead and knit a small scarf for her son's girlfriend. This is not the girl for him, according to my student, but she decided to be loving and accepting as these two had been together for quite a while.
Project got finished, folded and packaged, ready to be presented the next time the son and girlfriend visit. Instead there is a phone call from the son saying that he broke up with this girl that very day!! Watch out you non-believers, you could get the curse of the boyfriend knitting without even being a boyfriend!.
Stay tuned for more stories form the knit shop.

Here is a quick to knit project done with one skein of Inca Alpaca from Classic Elite Yarns. This yarn is now on sale so plan on stocking up in plenty of time for holiday knitting. The pattern is free with yarn purchase and is sized for both men and women. This morning a young man purchased the whole shebang as a gift for his girlfriend who is just learning to knit. I love it when that happens.

Another shipment of Ellyn Coopers Baroque Pearls has arrived, and the colors are brilliant. Don't wait too long to check them out because they are already selling.

Fall orders are scheduled to arrive during the next few weeks. I will continue to post as these sous yarns get unpacked and placed on thcrumptie shelves.
Only a few more weeks left to our summer drop-ins on Wednesday and Friday mornings. From 10am-noon you can get your knittigf problems solved for only $15.
